Part 1 : Creating "Dark Horizons"

Hi Garth, thanks for talking to us. Your site is one of the best movie sites around, and we would be remiss if we didn't ask you what your favorite movie is, and why?
That's an easy answer; my favorite is the movie "Aliens." In my opinion, it's the one film I've seen where every single scene and every single shot is perfect. Movies are all about finding the right balance between character development, plot, action and atmosphere. 'Aliens' gets it just right and does it with a whole lot of style.

You work on your own screenplays; can you tell us what genre they would fall into? Who would you like to star in your movie?
My screenplays are science fiction/action. If I could choose a dream cast it would include the likes of Geoffrey Rush, Helen Mirren, Ashley Judd, James Coburn, and Ben Affleck.

Can you tell us the history behind your website, Dark Horizons? How did you name it and why did you create it?
Everyone asks how I named it and the truth is there is no story to it. The name just popped into my head one day back in 1996. At the time I was creating a "Star Trek: First Contact" fan page, and when it was over and released, I turned my attention to all the future films being released. The web site exploded from there and became Dark Horizons.

Do you see your site as only a pure entertainment site?
Yes. Basically all I do is movie gossip and I try my best to make sure it's as accurate as possible. I want people to find it fun and informative, and that's my only agenda.

Tell us a secret behind how you get the "dish" on all the films prior to them being released? Do you have "Grateful Garth" spies who send stuff to you?
I get messages from all sorts of people in all sorts of occupations. The best example of that is one time on the same day I got a scoop about the same movie from two different sources - one was the janitor in a production company, the other was the president of the very same production company.
