Part 3: Beyond KAN, and into the future

Beyond KAN, you also are involved in MORAT Games. What criteria did you use when you decided to get involved in this venture?
Of course, I saw the games sector as being a particularly lucrative market and the MORAT proposition seemed to me to have an excellent chance of success. Also, thus far, my involvement in MORAT has not impacted significantly on the time I have been able to dedicate to KAN. I assist MORAT in an advisory capacity, which is something that I can fulfill without detriment to my main business activities.

Would you ever consider "crossing over" to the other side of the fence and setting up a pure Internet play like some of your clients are involved in?
Whatever the future holds, I think it is highly unlikely that I would dedicate myself to a single Internet venture, especially considering the current state of many DOT.COM companies.

I would like to think that alongside KAN, or indeed under the KAN banner, there will be plenty of scope for me to become involved in Internet ventures or joint ventures with DOT.COM set-ups.

How do you go about promoting your sites and services? What special skills and techniques did you need to learn, and how did you go about learning them?
The majority of my promotion/marketing skills have been learnt through trial and error, along with long nights reading through the plentiful resources that can be found on the web.

Have you considered raising outside capital to fund and grow your business?
Yes, we have considered the option on one or two occasions. However, so far, we have always decided against external capital and have funded all of our activities through internal channels.

If you had one piece of advice for a budding webmaster, what would it be?
Be professional and courteous in everything that you do, even when things are not going your way. Your customer service is what sets you apart from your competition. There are many others who have the same talent and technical skills as you, but it is the way in which you market and deliver your services which will determine your success or failure.

Finally, what are your future plans? Where do you see yourself in a year's time?
I wouldn't dare make a prediction! A year is an eternity when you're dealing with the Internet. Ideally, I will be sitting on a beach in Thailand, running my businesses from a laptop.
